This lake community is located in the north east hillside just outside of Kamloops.
Paul Lake features a Provincial Park as well as the Popular Harper Mountain ski area. The Paul Lake region has mostly detached properties however Deerwood on the Lake is a popular townhouse development located on the west end of Paul Lake and features two to four bedroom units.
Paul Lake is also a mix of freehold (where you own the land) and leasehold properties. The properties in Deerwood on the Lake as well as those on Paul Lake Road are typically freehold. Those properties located on the northern shores past the Paul Lake provincial park are all leasehold. There is a mixture of freehold and leasehold properties off of the lake as well so it is important to know more about the area to determine the property that best suits you.
Years ago many of the properties up at Paul lake were more recreational and not used year round. This has slowly changed and properties now have been redeveloped, rebuilt and updated over the past years and decade.
The northern area of Paul Lake features the leasehold properties which are native leases where there are ongoing lease payments. This form of lease typically is not financeable by way of a conventional mortgage. There are some beautiful waterfront properties with docks and lake access as well as off lake properties with lovely views. Deerwood on the Lake features an inground pool, boat moorage and a community dock space. Lastly the waterfront properties along Paul Lake Road are freehold and often include a dock space. Paul Lake Road does run between the homes themselves and the doc space which makes some of the leasehold properties more desirable in some cases. Every buyer has their vision of what lakefront means to them.
Paul lake is not far from the City of Kamloops. It is a short 20 minute drive to the City of Kamloops. There is also a local convenience store in the Pinantan Lake community which is about 15 minutes east of Paul Lake.
The Paul Lake area is great for the outdoors enthusiast. There is local skiing and snowboarding, hiking, biking, boating (power boats are permitted on Paul Lake), paddling and more. Harper Mountain is a short drive from Paul lake and not only is it great for skiing it also has a tub park. Paul Lake provincial park is open during the warmer months and features a day use beach area as well as camp ground space.
