About Monte Creek, Monte Lake & Westwold

This region of Kamloop sis east and south east of the Kamloops city centre. Monte Creek, Monte Lake and Westwood stretch over a vast amount of land and encompass many different environments.

Monte Creek is the closest of the three to the city of Kamloops. This area is home to the Monte Creek Winery which is located just off Highway #1. Monte Creek stretches from Campbell Creek to Pritchard and parallels the South Thompson River. The Monte Creek area is home to mainly small acreages and the landscape is fairly open with some larger trees much like the Kamloops landscape. Monte Creek stretches along Highway 97 (Okanagan or Kamloops Vernon Highway) until it meets Monte Lake. There are a number of larger farming and agricultural operations along Highway 97 where you will find much larger properties and acreages.

Monte Lake is approximately 30 to 40 minutes of Kamloops and is located on both sides of Highway 97. Monte Lake is largely rural acreages of all different sizes. There are some smaller parcels and mobile home pads however there are few services.

Westwold is further south of Monte Lake and it is north of Falkland. Many Westwold residents would travel to Vernon for their larger shopping trips. Highway travel is fairly easy and accessible. Due to the elevation of some of these areas, mainly Westwold and Monte Lake, the areas experience more snow and colder temperatures than those areas such as Monte Creek which are in the valley bottom.
