About Clearwater

Clearwater is a small town located in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and about 125 km north east of the city of Kamloops. It is situated in the Wells Gray Provincial Park. The town is named after the Clearwater River, which runs through the area. Clearwater is known for its natural beauty, with numerous lakes, forests, and mountains in the surrounding area. The town is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with opportunities for activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. The population of Clearwater is around 2,500 people.

Wells Gray Provincial Park is named Arthur Wells and his wife, Mary, who were early settlers in the area. Wells Gray Provincial Park is known for its natural beauty, with numerous lakes, forests, and mountains in the area. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, moose, and caribou. It is also home to several waterfalls, including the 400-foot tall Helmcken Falls. Along with all the outdoor recreational activities Clearwater has a small ski hill that is volunteer run called the Clearwater Ski Hill. This ski hill features a small lodge and t-bar access for the runs. There are 9 runs of different difficulty at this ski area.

The areas of Blackpool, Birch Island and Vavenby are near Clearwater.
